JCO Testimonials
JCO is the leading clinical oncology journal and is the source of clinical information to a large number of practicing oncologists. By reading JCO, I stay current on important clinical developments in oncology, and that helps me provide better service to oncologists, and their patients, who depend on my pathologic diagnosis for appropriate clinical management."
I use the JCO to keep up with rapidly advancing technologies and treatments, and to have a handle on honest evaluations of cancer therapies in my field.
"Reading JCO is the most efficient way for me to stay current with results from the most important clinical trials in oncology."
It is an extremely reliable journal. I can feel comfortable that the articles/data that is published within the journal is good data.
I read JCO to stay abreast of the newest information dealing with hematology and oncology. I have nine hematologist oncologists in the practice that use me as a resource for information. JCO is one of the sources that helps me find the information needed.
JCO provides me with the latest peer-reviewed, cutting-edge research that helps me take better care of the patients I see.
[JCO is the] most efficient method to update myself. Early Release articles indicate whats significant vs. 'needed to be published.'
"As a medical writer and consultant to the pharmaceutical industry, I could not exist without the JCO. As the premier oncology journal, it is absolutely essential to my work.
My subscription to the Journal of Clinical Oncology has been extremely helpful to me as an oncology pharmacist. It reviews my knowledge base and helps me gain a better understanding of new treatments available to our patients.
I read JCO because of good clinical information and it is very helpful in my day to day practice of veterinary oncology. I wish JCO will publish some animal studies as well, because companion animals are presented to us with spontaneous tumors and seems to be a good model for novel research.
I rely on JCO for the 'cutting edge' of oncology research and investigation.
As a leader in trying to integrate clinical pharmacology and PK/PD into the oncology drug development process, JCO provides an avenue for me to keep up with current clinical practice and cutting edge research that support the optimization of drug schedules and combos in oncology therapy.
[I read JCO] because I am the only general oncologist in my hospital and because JCO provides me and other staff with updated information concerning current treatment options.
I read JCO to keep current on the latest developments in treatments for my patients. I also value the review articles, which increase my knowledge base in oncology. The Audio Journal is also excellent to listen to during my commute.
JCO is simply one of the best sources for up-to-date information on oncology and affiliated disciplines like palliative care or psycho-oncology. I couldnt do without in my daily practice.
I read and use the content of the JCO articles as they have a high scientific value and reflect quite well what is the standard (which for us [pharmaceutical industry] is quite frequently difficult to work out.)
As a board certified oncology pharmacist, I rely on JCO to provide comprehensive and authoritative information to support my role in the care of cancer patients. In addition to the clinical trials published in JCO, the review articles and clinical practice guidelines have established JCO as the ultimate resource for all clinicians in the field of oncology.
It is an easy access and user friendly for non-oncologists.
I have developed two liposomal anticancer drugs - (cisplatin and oxaliplatin) that are in phase III (lipolatin) and phase I (lipoxal) clinical trials. JCO articles have helped my clinical development tremendously! They are authoritative and tops in the cancer field with in-depth information!
This is the one journal I use to keep current in oncology and hematology. It is recognized the world around as the authority in this field.
As an oncology clinical pharmacist, I am in a position of trust with both the oncologists and our patients. JCO is the primary source of cutting edge thinking in oncology and is essential to helping me keep that trust.
As an oncology pharmacist, I need to keep up to date with new therapies and many of the big trials that are published in JCO.
I am reading JCO because it provides a good overview on the current status
of oncology.
I teach in a graduate program in a school of nursing that produces nurse practitioners for acute and outpatient settings who will care for patients with cancer. We have three cancer-specific courses that are taken by all oncology Masters students. The remainder of the students' courses are focused on acute care or adult primary care so they can sit for exams to be certified as nurse practitioners in those settings. In teaching the cancer courses, I want to be up to date on issues in oncology, especially practice issues. Membership in ASCO (as a nurse) with the subscription to JCO gives me a window on that world that I do not ordinarily have (I am a basic scientist who does breast cancer research in a laboratory.)
I read JCO to keep on top of the latest developments in clinical practice, especially in therapeutic areas where I may not see a lot of patients (i.e., my practice site is at the VA and therefore I miss out a lot on breast and gynecological malignancies). I am an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and have an obligation to both my students and to my patients to be knowledgeable and up-to-date about all areas of oncology. I also utilize these articles to initiate journal club discussions with other providers (MDs, RNs, PAs) from my clinic. They are also very busy and bringing certain articles to their attention helps us all stay on the same page and work collaboratively. I only have time to read a couple of journals - JCO is the best, most respected journal for oncology (NEJM the other for more general medicine). I am also VERY excited about the new review series for 2005 - certainly will be helpful when guiding my students through my clinical externship. |
